- Session Fee’s are $140 each. OHIP does not cover psychotherapy fees currently. Please contact me ahead of time to ensure that if you have benefit coverage that it covers our services, or if you require financial assistance – sliding scale slots are available.
Q- Are There Mental Health Conditions that you do not provide services for?
- Yes there are mental health conditions that are considered to be outside of my scope to provide counselling / therapy for. These would include persons suffering from, Eating Disorders and Intravenous Drug Users
Q- What is a Psychotherapist?
- The main difference between a Psychotherapist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist is that a Psychotherapist can not diagnosis mental disorders or prescribe medications. Psychotherapists can provide counselling, therapy, and assessments for treatment to persons suffering from a mental health diagnosis, conditions, and their symptoms. You do not need a referral from your doctor or a have a mental health diagnosis to access our counselling services. In Ontario Psychotherapists must be registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario to be able to preform the controlled act of therapy.
Q- What Does Registered Psychotherapist “Qualifying” mean?
- I am currently a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and practice the controlled act of Psychotherapy while under the director of a Clinical Supervisor. I am working towards fulfilling the hours required to be granted the full designation status of a Registered Psychotherapist. Even after a Psychotherapist has been granted full designation of Registered Psychotherapist, it is a common practice to continue to work under the direction of clinical supervisor to ensure that the quality of service, rights of the client, best practices and ethical standards are continuing to be met by those who offer the controlled act of counselling and therapy in Ontario.
Q- Is the information I share in our sessions confidential
- Yes. The information you share in our therapy sessions is confidential with only a few exceptions i) you threaten to hurt yourself ii) you threaten to hurt someone else iii) a court orders the content of our sessions to be released as part of a judicial proceeding
